News Update 15-01-11
Happy New Year!
Welcome to the final news update from Trainwreck 20/20.
It's been a fun-filled 6 and a half years but times and priorities change and it's important to reflect that.
Jeremy and I started Trainwreck at the end of 2004. We worked out of a hovel of a place, chain smoking and doing our own telecine's with no windows in Kensington.
Our main aim was to produce music videos for good independent bands, largely overlooked by the mainstream media.
We managed to produce about a dozen music videos largely for free as well as the 4 year live documentation project The Super8 Diaries
We put on one hugely successful 12 band warehouse party and 2 other hugely enjoyed 8-10 band warehouse shows in Melbourne and Sydney.
We produced and funded one short film that screened at Dungog and St Kilda.
During this time we both continued to do what we had to do to pay the rent.
I've been offered a place at VCA next year to do my Masters of Film and Television (drama). This is fantastic news as my focus has been moving more towards storytelling in drama.
Jeremy is continuing to push himself as far as possible with his cinematography. You will be able to keep track of him through his personal site www.jeremyrouse.com
The trainwreck site will be kept online for at least another year as it's a well used resource and we still get around 65 000 hits a year and send out about 150gigs worth of files.
I will continue to do the odd music video when inspired to and am looking forward to launching a new site in the new year that better reflects my current state of creativity.
SO.. we'd like to THANK YOU SO MUCH for all of your support over the last few years.
I will be putting together a compilation DVD with as much TW2020 work on it as can be compressed. If you would like one please register your interest. They'll be $10 with postage.
--------
As a parting gift we are happy to present the newly finished music video for New Zealand's Sharpie Crows
View it --> here and here.
--------
The trainwreck mailing list will be migrated to my new home. If you would like to be added to the mailing list to see where we al end up please drop me an email --> knomadix@gmail.com

News Update 02-12-10
Very pleased to say that "Automata" is pretty much all complete, just need the final mixdown and we'll be set to master. Big thanks to James at Artifact for jumping on board with a little animation for the closing credits.
We will apparently, finally be able to share it's sister project, the 2nd Pikelet video in January as well.
--------
Matt has also just completed a rough cut on the other new short film, now titled "Shackle". Sound design and a lockoff to be completed over the next couple of weeks.
--------
A couple of music videos on the Horizon. One for Melbourne's alt-country-folksters The Lloyd Weir, and the other for New Zealand's sardonic, punk-noise mongrels The Sharpie Crows. Fun times ahead.
-------- -------- -------- --------
News Update 09-11-10
Sound design is now complete on the experimental short now titled "AUTOMATA". Christina has done a wonderfull job and we can't wait to share it with you. Titles and grade about to begin so expect a local premiere mid december.
--------
As you may or may not know, Matt consumes world cinema with an unstoppable appetite. He thought it only fair to share some of the gems he's unearthed and now has a blog dedicated to the task here --> http://bostonsobscurity.blogspot.com/
-------- -------- -------- --------
News Update 13-10-10
Matt is now back Europe. 9 countries in 7 weeks. Hi-lights were cinque terre on the Italian riviera and the San Sebastian Film Festival. A truly civilised experience. Mornings on the beach followed by Pintxos and films.
--------
Editing is underway on the new short. As well as development on another short to hopefully be shot before Christmas.
--------
We are currently open for Music Video proposals. If you have something you think we'd be interested in or you like our work please drop us a line. MAIL
-------- -------- -------- --------
News Update 16-08-10
The new short is now in the can and ready for editing on Matt's return. We had a great, fun and fast-paced shoot. We look very much forward to sharing the finished film with you later in the year.
You can watch a sneaky little snippet from it --> here
-------- -------- -------- --------
News Update 28-07-10
Another new short film is in the works. 5 minutes in the drunk tank and tentatively titled 'MAN' at this stage. It will be shot in 2 weeks on the 5D, another self-funded piece, this time with long-serving Australian actor Jeremy Kewley.
--------
Matt will be off trekking across Austria, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, France, Spain and the UK for half of August and all of September, visiting the Venice and San Sebastian film festivals as well as catching up with 2-piece Czech, punk band Sabot. If anyone would like to meet up in any of the aforementioned countries please get in touch.
--------
A couple of new music video projects have been put on the back-burner til October. Suffice to say we hope to finish the year with a swag of releases and hopefully a big screening party.
--------
We've updated the BIO section to reflect more acurately the collaboration process here. Welcome Marden!
--------
The experimental short came out well. It's currently running at 10 minutes and is in sound post. Christina is busy touring with an orchestra in Mexico but we expect to have it finished late October.
-------- -------- -------- --------
News Update 15-06-10
Hombres Hablando has now done it's festival run in Australia. It got a healthy audience response at the St Kilda screening. We are now happy to share it with the rest of you. You can now view the whole film online here as a stream or download it in the friendly DIVX format.
--------
Matt's just finished a director's masterclass with notorious Australian director Anna Kokkinos of Head On and Blessed fame. This was a really insightful and rewarding experience and bound to be very usefull with future endeavours.
--------
The Pikelet clip was finished a couple of months ago and we just have to wait for the label to roll it out now.
--------
The film lighting business continues to grow. Matt's now running an even bigger truck. Same deal as before except all additional lights are in the truck so don't necessarily have to be organised before-hand. Matt was also up in Sydney recently, shooting Sydney fashion week with fellow trainwreck collaborator Marden Dean. We shot the whole thing on the Canon 5D.
--------
We are now running a film group that meets at the studio in Collingwood every few weeks for a film screening and discussion of very rare, mostly foreign cinema. It's a chance to dissect and disseminate ideas about what's happening in the contemporary world, cult and experimental cinema sphere. If you would like to be added to the list please email admin@trainwreck2020.com Films screened so far : Nord, La grande bouffe, Taxidermia, Stingray Sam, The Man From London
-------- -------- -------- --------
News Update 19-04-10
More good news! our short film "Hombres Hablando" has also been selected to screen at the Dungog Film Festival Dungog is rapidly rising to be one of the better festivals in Australia. Our Charge Group clip will also be making it's festival premiere there. Congrats!!
--------
The past two weeks have been flat out as we put together a funding proposal for another short film for Film Victoria's Propeller Shorts program. Written by Matt, 'DRIVE' is a high-paced, Mad-Max meets Delicatessen, all action short. We are very happy with the quality of the script and proposal so please keep your fingers crossed for us.
-------- -------- -------- --------
News Update 29-03-10
Just a quick note. Our short film "Hombres Hablando" will make it's official, world-wide festival premiere in Melbourne during May at the St Kilda Film Festival screening as part of the 'Top 100' films program. Details on dates to follow. If you haven't seen it yet we urge you to come and see it in a decent cinema with good sound. Congrats to the whole team!!
-------- -------- -------- --------
News Update 09-03-10
Super long time no news. The Pikelet clip has taken a LOT longer than expected. It's 99% there and we hope it will see the light of day by the end of the month. It looks like the stereoscopic stuff won't make the cut due to budget constraints and two re-shoots (not due to technical error). It's a shame, however we can safely say that a lot has been learned and whenever we use the technique again it will be even further refined.
--------
The big news is that Trainwreck HQ will be moving into a nice big studio in Collingwood. We will be joining forces with the team at ARTIFACT DIGITAL The team consists of a couple of directors/DOP's and motion designers. This will hopefully open things up a little and give us all a broader scope of projects to work on.
--------
We have another exciting, as yet untitled, experimental project in the works. A collaboration with Belgium/Austrian sound designer Christina Clar and melbourne musician Sez Wilks. This one will emerge in the form of a new short film around the 8 minute mark. The sound is being recorded as I type. It will be non-narrative and go the opposite way to normal where the sound-scape is largely created first.
--------
We continue to pitch on various projects and Jeremy has been busy shooting more commercial work. You can view one of his latest commercial spots here
-------- -------- -------- --------
News Update 21-12-09
We just got back from 3 days of harrowing weather out on a farm in Trentham shooting a new Clip for Pikelet. Day one was 40 degrees which then dropped to 0 degrees overnight and then preceeded to rain from sunrise until sunset. Tough times and a huge thanks! to our trusty crew. DOP Jeremy Rouse, Designer Wandjina, Assistant Emily Barr, our fantastic lead actor Tom Mcathie and most gracious hosts at Greenacres.
We put the Newish Canon 5D mk II through it's paces and will be back with a full report once post is complete. The camera certainly has it's ups and downs. Awesome depth of field in low light on long lenses. Post is a little tricky as it records natively as h.264 at 30P which is useless to try and edit with, so all your footage needs to be transcoded.
That image on the front page is from the shoot. That's right, a clip about a duckhunter.
--------
Have a great xmas and new years everyone!!
-------- -------- -------- --------
News Update 15-11-09
Our first commercial is now complete. It was a 2-day shoot out in Central Victoria around the town of Euroa. A huge thankyou goes out to the whole crew who did a steller job in very wet conditions. We managed to get the shoot in the can in little 20 min breaks of sunshine in otherwise torrential downpours. It was a fun gig and the Ad was premiered at a trade conference in QLD in mid october.
Again we shot on RED, this time the wonderful Marden Dean coming on board via Sydney to shoot.
Watch it Here
--------
Matt did his first VJ set yesterday in Collaboration with The Surly Mermaids as part of the Electundra Festival . The visuals consisted of over 500 digitally effected slides from 25 years of his grandparents travels around the world during the 70's and early eighties. The fest itself was diverse and engaging. It continues over the next 2 weekends.
--------
The whole trainwreck site has been revamped and now has a page for drama, TVC etc.. The MP3 section is now loaded with 25 full sets from all of our live shows.
--------
The next music video we will be doing will be another clip for Pikelet. Her new album is due out in Feb. We are set to shoot mid December. We'll be trying a few new techniques and looks out on this one.
--------
Jeremy is in the middle of a little USA and European exodus. He's hitting up a few agents over there and shopping his reel around. He should be back soon.
-------- -------- -------- --------
News Update 19-09-09
In the middle of a site upgrade here. Finally put up a separate page for the Super8 Diaries to help make it easier to order. Still quite a few copies left, same deal $20AU postage paid worldwide. We are looking at cutting together a personal short doc on the whole project as the way the diaries exist at the moment don't qualify them for any film festivals. The secondary live DVD is still in editing with hopes for a finish by the end of 2010.
--------
Lots of pitching on music videos has been happening. We are getting a bit picky in our old age and are shying away from low-budget jobs as they can't sustain our art or help us push forward with new technologies. That said, if the music strikes a chord with us we are always open to negotiation.
--------
Matt is back from the Philipines and will be directing his first TVC in the next few weeks for NRI, a national independent farming network. He's pretty excited about being offered the chance to diversify. Trainwreck will also by aiming to get their second drama 'DRIVE' in the can before the end of the year.
--------
The MP3 section is going to get a big overhaul. We will be uploading all of the full sets from all super8 shows in ZIP/RAR files for your pleasure. That's over 30 hours worth of music!
--------
The new drama section will contain information on past and present film projects along with previews. Hombres Hablando is now in there and also has an IMDB page. It's currenlty in consideration for half a dozen festivals.
--------
Jeremy now has his personal site up with a focus on cinematography here
-------- -------- -------- --------
News Update 08-06-09
Thankyou all very much for attending the premiere of Hombres Hablando. The film screened to two full houses to a hearty applause and positive feedback. It was an excellent night and impressive to see so many people out during the middle of the swine flu outbreak. We will be attacking the festival circuit with this one over the coming months.
--------
We are currently pitching on a couple of clips so fingers crossed if we get the one we want you can expect some more cinematic gold soon enough.
--------
Writers wanted! We are very keen to hear from any writers that are wanting to collaborate on drama projects. If you or someone you know fits that description please drop us a line.
-------- -------- -------- --------
News Update 11-05-09
Hombres Habando will premiere at Glitch Bar and Cinema on Sunday 31st of May. It runs at 12mins. We will be screening the Charge Group clip before-hand in all of it's HD goodness. Please RSVP knomadix@gmail.com if you are interested in attending. We'll be putting a few drinks on as well.
--------
We are happy to announce that we have two clips in the running for an Inside Film (IF) award this year.
If you have a second please drop a vote for each here. Vote Firekites // Vote Charge Group
--------
Jeremy is now shooting a lot of TVC work as well as a gamut of music videos and drama. He is also getting married. CONGRATS!!
Matt will be trekking through the remote mountains of Palawan in the Philipines for the month of August and working on his next script. This will be another island hopping, motorcycle trip. Palawan used to be joined by the land bridge to Borneo.. when it seperated, life on Palawan developed in it's own unique way and remains largely untouched by logging and palm oil plantations.
-------- -------- -------- --------
News Update 27-03-09
Time keeps a ticking!
Matt's
short film 'The Conversation' now tentatively titled 'Hombres
Hablando', which is Spanish for 'Men Talking' is nearing completion in
the editing stage. It will then be off for about a months worth of
sound design in Belgium. We'll be doing a screening in Melbourne when
it's all complete and hope you can join us before we send it out on a
festival run.
--------
The Super8 Diaries continue to travel the globe. Their next appearance will be in Portugal at Festival Audiovisual Black & White
Now in it's 6th year the festival celebrates the art and aesthetics of
storytelling in black and white. The festival takes place from the 22nd
- 25th of April.
--------
The Firekites clip we completed last year has also been accepted into the Melbourne Soapbox For Short Films festival and will screen in competition at the Australian Centre for Moving Image on April 18th.
-------- -------- -------- --------
News Update 19-02-09
Happy New Year!!
Pleased to say that post is about to begin on 'The Conversation' . We hope to have it wrapped by mid year.
--------
A couple of Super8 Diaries related bits of news. We have been reviewed in the current issue of American Super8 Magazine Super8 Today. Read the full page review here.
The Super8 Diaries also make their French debut next week screening as part of the Cine Subsonic film festival at Montpellier in the south of France.
They also screened recently on pirate TV in London.
--------
Matt
just got back from New Zealand and was inspired by glaciers, mountains,
wildlife and the underground music scene over there.
--------
A few other music videos are in the works as well as a new live DVD of unseen footage from all of our Super8 shows.
-------- -------- -------- --------
News Update 13-12-08
Hurrah!! We can now say with much excitement that our first short drama is IN THE CAN!!
We
went 3 hours overtime but managed to get all that we needed and would
like to extend a heartfelt thanks to FANDANGO cafe for allowing us to
invade their space. Massive thanks to all the cast and crew for all
their hard work. At this stage we aim to have all the post wrapped up
by the end of March.
A couple of pics from the shoot can be found here - one two three four five six seven
-------- -------- -------- --------
News Update 02-12-08
Okay, so the Charge Group clip is all wrapped up and we are very pleased with the end result.
You can view it on our site here (Needs flash plugin. Press play then wait for it to fully load before watching)
It's also up here at Vimeo at HD quality, or you can view the low res youtube version here
--------
Matt's
short film 'The Conversation' is shooting next Thursday the 11th.
Jeremy is behind the lense and again we will be shooting on the RED
camera at 2k film resolution. Sound design is going to be handled by
the supremely talented Christina Gar over in lovely Belgium.
-------- -------- -------- --------
News Update 11-11-08
Well,
we survived the shoot and managed to capture everything we had hoped
to. The weather which was our biggest obstacle to overcome, came
through with the goods and only a day after finishing the whole region
was drowned by a massive storm. The image on the front page is from the
shoot. Stay tunned!!
-------- -------- -------- --------
News Update 02-11-08
This week we will be out and about in gold mining country shooting a highly ambitious clip for Sydney's Charge Group. The song is called 'Lullaby For The Appocalypse' and will be shot over two days on the infamous RED camera.
Will update once it's in the can.
--------
The Firekites clip continues to screen on Rage each week and even scored an airing on JTV on Saturday.
--------
A
new live compilation DVD is in the works. This one takes one song each
from all of the bands that have been filmed at any of the Super8
diaries shows over the past couple of years. All footage will be new
and none will be available online. Expect about 25 clips on the DVD and
a launch party around March.
--------
Matt's short film is set for shooting on the 20th of November.

News Update 24-09-08
Firekites clip is now finished. It was quite a post production slog in the end but came out pretty damn nice.

News Update 26-08-08
Well,
things have been pretty interesting of late. The Firekites shoot in
Newcastle felt like an episode of 'The Great Race' with us barely
having a minute to breathe over the 4 days.
The
clip is coming together nicely, with effects, grade and mastering still
to be completed. This one was shot full HD with super-speed lenses. The
post path between the MAC and PC actually turning out to be pretty
painless. Big thanks to the Firekites guys for hosting us and showing
us a bit of Newcastle. We will def try and make it back up there for
the fantastic TINA in early October.
--------
The
first lot of mastered sound has arrived from the Sydney Super8 launch.
Matt got all giddy when it arrived and couldn't wait to cut something
together from the now defunct When Chimps Attack . More to follow in the coming weeks.

--------
Indonesia
was a fantastic experience. Matt and Sez managed to ride across two and
a half islands and 15 hours worth of filthy ferries. We stayed in
thatched huts on desolate beaches. Snorkeled with exotic fish, rode
around volcanoes and played with feral dogs. The trip further
compounding our distaste for the impenetrable boom!boom! noise of
western advertising and it's mission to convert the whole world over to
it's unsustainable absurdity.
-------- -------- -------- --------
News Update 09-07-08
What's with that image on the front page??
We are about to head to Newcastle to do what we hope will be our very best work to date on a new music video for Newcastle's FIREKITES If You haven't heard or seen these guys yet, do yourself a favour and do.
--------
Matt
will be off Island hopping through Indonesia for the last part of July
and half of August as he rides a scooter across 4 Islands to visit the
legendary Komodo dragons. Looking forward to the sun.
--------
The
Sydney launch was a tonne of fun and everyone who made it had a
complete blast. We thank all the bands for playing, everyone who helped
out and all of you for making the effort to get out of your comfort
zone.
Video footage coming soon.

Jeremy is back from Mexico and Cuba. He had this to say
"Mexico
was a great experience. I much preferred the smaller towns like Tequila
and Oaxaca (Wah-ha-ka) where their is more traditional culture and
traditional food.. Mazunte was a crazy little beachside town down
on the coast from Oaxaca, beautiful for swimming, relaxing and playing
dominoes. Way too many lost hippies though, a strange mix of shit, out
of time bongo drummers and Americans who wish they were Jack Johnson
Cuba
was a highlight for me. A bizarre mix of patriotic socialists
(older generation Revolutionaries) and intelligent younger people, poor
and trapped by the Castro regime. Imagine being 33, not being
able to see the world because you are locked on the island. These
people know only through tourists (and the propaganda of the only
newspaper) what happens beyond their shores.
Needless
to say I enjoyed the Rum and cigars. I have a box of fresh Cigars
richo, my new favourite, Cohiba Siglo 1. There is one with your
name on it. Speak later.

--------
Matt's
script is still in development and currently going through a redraft
with old skate buddy Damian Bailey. A few other warped minds he knows
are also being plumbed for feedback.

We
have a couple of music vids on the horizon if and when the cats
involved can get the cash together. In the meantime, expect live
footage from the diaries launch to surface. First up will be Charge

News Update 30-01-08
Welcome to the new year and a new government for Australia. One that hopefully promises a little more cultural awareness.
The
Super8 diaries launch party was a big sucess with just over 350 people
turning out to scope some diverse bands and a snippet of the film
document. All the bands put in a steller effort and there were
ear-to-ear grins all day. GOOD TIMES.
The DVD is now available via mail order. Just drop an email with your address to knomadix@gmail.com with the subject heading 'mail order DVD'. The DVD is $20au including postage worldwide.
--------
Things
will be a little quiet over Feb with both of us taking a well earned
break. Jeremy will be hunting exotic tequila in Mexico and having a
sniff around Cuba. Matt will be on a meditation retreat in Tasmania.
--------
Matt's
first short film in 7 years, 'The Conversation' should be in production
by the end of March. It's a Steve Buscemi style talkie.

News Update 25-10-07
Almost November already!?!
First up... the Live Vids page is all updated now with a few new clips from the super8 fundraiser show. We've added Batrider, The Tigers and Tucker B's.
--------
Next
section to be added will be a tour vid section. We thought it would be
best to keep the shakey single camera on-board-sound clips seperate
from the existing multi-cam/pro-tool sound clips. Tour Vid section will
cover all bands shot out and about and we thought it important to host
these at a higher quality than the inferior youtube quality. This is
where clips from America can be found.
Links page is also updated. Drop us an email if anything is broken.
--------
Next confirmed act for the diaries launch is Aleks And The Ramps! this time playing in full band mode.
--------
Keep your eyes peeled on RAGE on the ABC in the coming weeks as we air live clips from Witch Hats and Baseball.
--------
Oh yeah, we also got shortlisted for the ATOM awards for best music video for the Children Collide clip
-------- -------- -------- --------
News Update 09-09-07
Touchdown!
We are both back in Melbourne in one piece now. We can both safely say
that our respective travels were utterly inspiring and humbling.
--------
As a welcome back we have a new live clip up from the Super8 Diaries fundraiser from Melbourne based gutter crawlers Witch Hats. The track is for the song 'Hellhole'. You can view it HERE or download the high quality mp4 from the live downloads page.
In
related Witch Hats news, there is a good chance of an exciting
collaboration on a short film we are trying to raise the funds for. The
film offers a window into the 'Bodies In The Barrels' murders that took
place in Adelaide during the late 1990's.
--------
We are always interested in doing clips so if you have something you think would suite us drop an email.
--------
Keep
checking back here as I will be regularly adding clips from our
fundraiser and from bands fimed during my travels in the U.S during
which I saw close to 50 bands in 30 days.

News Update 09-06-07
Holla!
Wondering what's up with the butterflies and the commie star on the front page??
Well,
looking at our site stats for this year it appears that nearly a third
of all our visitors came from China. In appreciation of this we salute
you with a couple of friendly butterflies and hope for the future.
--------
A
couple of things. Firstly, the Super8 diaries look they they will be a
while off yet. Commitments to the daily grind have slowed the editing
process down. (No.. not one cent of the fundraiser money has gone
towards either of our travels)
On the upside we have a couple of new snippets to tide you over.
Colditz Glider - live at 101 and My Disco! - live at 101 both filmed in mid 2004
I'd been waiting on the sound for these two for 2 years. All sound is a temp mix at this stage.
--------
The Pikelet clip was mostly shot several weekends ago and is still a work in progess. It should be up by the end of the month.
--------
Travel
plans are set. See you all soon and expect plenty of new clips online
on our return. Matt will also be writing an article for Mess & Noise magazine whilst away.

News Update 11-05-07
Whoah!!..
long time no update. We've been busy trying to earn some cash for our
respective world travels. June/July will see Jeremy trekking through
the U.S and Eastern Europe. July/August will see Matt trekking through
the U.S and engaging in a writing retreat on an island in Indonesia.
We are keen to meet any likeminded folks whilst on these travels. For more information drop us an email at knomadix@yahoo.co.uk

That
clip we did for Warner is complete. It's a fairly safe number that saw
us do a road trip out close to the NSW border to shoot in an ancient
studio from the 70's. You can view it here
--------
This weekend sees us shooting a clip for one of our favourite Melbourne artists, the looped wonderkid that is pikelet. This one should be a lot of fun with an open brief.
What
we can tell you is that a lot of photography of butterflies will be
involved as well as green screen elements and a road trip around the
victorian countryside.
--------
Hmm.. what else? There are two live clips complete from the fundraiser show.

We're on TeeeVeee!!!
Late last year we had a crew come and do a story on us for the Australia Networks 'NEXUS' program.

March
is here already. Things have been hectic. We shot another clip for
Warner and are in the process of delivering that as we speak. We got
our biggest budget thus far, so of course chose to shoot on film again.

It's
seems VIACOM has gotten too big for it's boots and overextended itself
in a mass crack-down on youtube. Somehow they decided that they held
the copywrite to live footage of aleks and the ramps! that we shot for
the super8 diaries. Youtube removed the footage without verifying with
us first. All future footage of ours will not be posted on youtube.

News Update 24-01-07
New day, New dawn, New year.
Firstly
a massive THANKYOU to everyone who played, volunteered and partied
their hardest to help make the fundraiser show a huge success. We had
very close to 600 payers through the door and by the time Eddy Current
Suppression Ring hit the floor the place exploded. Beer flew through
the air, people danced, slammed, sung along and hung upside down from
the rafters (that pic on the front page was mid ECSR)
Many
people have said they have not seen that many people having that much
fun in a long time. We agree and believe it just goes to show that a
quality and diverse line-up in an interesting space at a fair price
will bring quality and diverse people.
Here are two short little clips from the night. Expect more once the proper sound mix is complete.

We
gave access to a hole heap of our work for Sydney based community music
show Raw TV. So expect to see our work on there as well in the not too
distant future.

Well,
it's been a busy month this one. We've been flat out with a re-edit of

the old, you can view it here.

The Laura Jean clip is finished. You can view it here or at the top of the clips

all together. It was a joy to make and Laura was an absolute pleasure
to work with. There may be a launch for it at some point so keep your
ears and eyes peeled.
--------
We are happy to announce the next band to be added to our Super8 Diaries project. 'The Instant'. They hail from Newcastle and feature two members of the now defunct Purplene.
These guys are a great techy, instumental group who've been honing
their thing for quite a few years now. 'Fugazi' meets 'Volta Do Mar'
maybe??
--------
Whilst
on the subject of the Super8 Diaries.. Plans are in the works for a
fundraiser gig in January in Melbourne somewhere featuring all of the
bands who are available. We'll let you know as we go.

This Friday night we will be shooting Eddy Current Suppression Ring as
part of the long overdue Super8 diaries project. No news from the AFC

past and we're not about to now. Come down if you still haven't seen
them. It's for a Zine launch at Revolver.
--------
Great hits on the Children Collide clip.
Since posting it 15 days ago it has had 490 downloads through YouTube
and an estimated 400 downloads from here by some 1200 unique visitors.
Either way, we are stoked.

Next clip in the pipeline is for Achingly honest Melbourne singer/songwriter Laura Jean. More on that as we go but it should be complete half way through next month.

forward. Not before time either, as we are getting REAL itchy to do

good. The more times we watch it the more we realise just how much raw
passion is on there.
--------
We are pleased to announce that Eddy Current Suppression Ring will
be the next band added to the super8 diaries project. Speaking of which
we are currently applying for JJJ's JTV Documentary funding round. If
sucessful this project is going to move closer to completion REAL
quickly.

News Update 15-04-06
Trainwreck
20/20 is seeking a Melbourne or Sydney based producer to assist in
securing the funds for the production of music promos.
We
have the skills and attitude to get the job done. You will ideally have
the contacts within the industry to get us into the bidding process, a
pro attitude, and a good sense of humour.
Payment
would be on a job by job basis. Your role would essentially be that of
an artists rep as well as overseeing productions and that all parties
are satisfied.
If you are up for a creative challenge, working with good people with an abundance of passion then we'd love to hear from you.
--------
We
recently got to witness Japanese doom/percussion group Birushanah. Who
after 4 years of trying to get into our country finally succeeded.
"Birushanah
is a five piece Osaka based band which combines subsonic bass
annihilation with uniquely Japanese sounds. Bassist Shibata uses a
fretless, aluminium necked bass and runs it through a series of
different amplifiers and layers of distortion. This is combined with
drums, metal percussion (44 gallon drums, car wheels etc) and guitar to
create a wall of sound that must be seen to be believed."

News Update 2-11-05
Greetings across the void of silence...
My month in the remote northern Kimberly was nothing short of AMAZING!..Red sand, 43 degree heat.
You will find an article in the next issue of Mess & Noise (4)
detailing the trip, its highs and lows and hopefully get an idea of how
inspiring it is up there.
Jez spent the last couple of month’s focus-pulling his first feature film
--------
Now back in Melbourne camp Trainwreck is ready to go into full swing again
--------
The team is happy to announce a new member in the form of handsome,
TALL, 'Deloris' front man Marcus Teague. He will be helping us out with
Artist Liaisons and areas of general creativity.
--------
The 'Tucker Bs' clip 'The Legs' premiered on Rage last weekend (buy the
album! it is THAT good), and Purplene's 'Love: Western' was played by
Guest programmers 'Spunk Records' the week before.
--------
The Tigers were captured to Super8 with a brand new song with lyrics
along the lines of 'Marry him off!, he's no good to us' at the
Rosemount in Perth two weeks ago. Expect to see the whole live set
showcasing their brilliant versatility up in our MP3 section soon.
--------
Interviews with Mukaizake and the Tigers will also have been completed by the time you read this.
--------
The 'Baseball' clip looks now set to happen in late
december early Jan, we hope to come up with something executed with the stealth of a samuri hairdresser.
Needless to say, we are VERY excited.
--------
The 'Themata' clip that we collaborated on with our good friend,
Director 'Chris Frey' for Perth band 'Karnivool' is now complete. It
premiered on rage last week as well. We all think it looks pretty
schmick, with some kick-ass 3d work by Maya master ' Edo '. Plans are
in motion for a second collab between 'Trainwreck 20/20' and 'Iche Lieb
Kunst' on their next single. We hope to have the Karnivool clip up in
the next week or so as well.
--------
The new site is still under construction. We are told it will be ready
in November sometime. That's about it for now..please keep in touch and
good luck with all your own projects.

23-08-05
A
slow month this one, with one of our newly planned clips falling down
due to last minute label re-thinks on song choice and a general lack of
communication.

We
are pleased to announce that plans are underway for a new music video
to be shot for Melbourne band ‘Baseball’. If you still have not seen
them live, please do.

Okay,
welcome to another month. The new site is under construction and
progressing nicely. In the meantime, we will continue to update here.

All clips are now re-encoded, the final Tucker's clip is done as well as 'Super8 Diaries' teasers for Mukaizake and Baseball.
--------
The
MP3 section is up now as well. With live sets from Mukaizake, My Disco
and Baseball. Thanks to Oneironaut Shane for his help with this. That
little animation in the corner is Love Of Diagrams, also part of our
Super8 Diaries project.
--------
DVD's
all went out okay. There have been some reports of problems playing.
This is due mainly to the nature of the technology capitalists, so we'd
suggest you try playing it in different players. Failing that it should
play on any computer DVD player.
--------
Purplene's 'Love: Western' clip aired on Rage last Friday (within the first half hour, between Beck and Chemical Brothers).
Tucker B's - 'The Legs' should be airing in the next few weeks..we'll keep you updated.
--------
We
are still in planning/discussions for 3 other clips but as they are not
fully confirmed we won't post it just yet. Needless to say we are
pretty excited!
--------
Trainwreck
20/20 is proud to be lending their services in collaboration with 'Iche
Lieb Kunst' director Chris Frey on a new clip for toolesque rockers
Karnivool. The shoot happened in The Espy back room last week and went
very smooothly. We may host the clip here in the future. With Chris at
the helm you can be sure of something dark and disturbing.

The
whole site is currently being redesigned by our good friend Audiophile
Adam. Expect to see it up in the coming weeks. The mp3 section will be
up then as well.
--------
The
Tucker Bs clip, whilst being available for a while from here is finally
finished. The new version is not hugely different, just a lot dirtier
looking. ‘The Legs’ will be included on their new album ‘Chubby’. Keep
an eye out for it on RAGE in the next few weeks.
--------
Those
that have ordered DVD’s should receive them in the next week or so. We
did a limited run of 40, all hand made, numbered and printed. The
artwork is being finalized as we speak. The DVD includes all clips we
have done thus far plus a new Super8 teaser from Mukaizake as well as a
very candid interview with the Tucker Bs from last Boxing Day. Enjoy!
-------- -------- -------- --------
11/05/05
Well, we got back from an amazing 3-day shoot in Sydney for the
Purplene song 'Love: Western'. The shoot went incredibly smoothly. With
a huge thanks to ‘Pact Youth Theatre’ and ‘My Darling Patricia’ for the
use of their theatre, sets and actors. Big thanks also to camera
assistants Jonathan and Dev and production assistant Joel. We would
like to extend our greatest respect to the Blackman/Sokol crew for
their generosity and gracious hospitality. We aim to have a cut in the
next couple of weeks.
--------
We
are pleased to add the Violin thrashing Melbourne rock band, 'Baseball'
to our Super 8 diaries project. We shot them at the Espy last Friday
night and they played a great set. If you are yet to catch these guys
live yet..Do it!
--------
Look
out for our MP3 section on the site in the next week or so. We will be
adding live sets of the Super 8 diaries series for your collections.
First off the ranks will be 'Mukaizake' with their last gig in Perth.
As well as 'Baseball' and 'My Disco' at the Espy.
--------
We
are now on a Brand new server with an allowable 100gig a month of
traffic that should see the end of any probs. So download whatever the
hell you want.
--------
We are also now in planning for a Music Video for Newcastle Mathy-Instro-Rockers Audiophile.
--------
**
DVD's are still available. We will be doing a massive nation-wide mail
out once the Purp's and Plastik Scene clips are locked off. Expect to
see a second teaser for the super 8 diaries series as well.
-------- -------- -------- --------
11/04/05
Well,
funny times. It would seem that within days of having our work hosted
and ready to roll we have already blown our traffic limit, with an
estimated 180-200 video downloads in 5 days. All clips bar the Deloris
one will be temporarily offline until a solution is found. If you would
like a nice (FREE) Hi-res DVD with all our work on it drop us an email (Matt)
--------
A new addition to the PURPLENE clip has come forth. Our good friend and
professional acquaintance Dev will be putting on a STEADICAM rig for
us, floating the 16mm camera with the elegance and diligence
film-makers have come to expect from him.
--------
In other news, legendary Perth band THE TIGERS have scraped an entire
album just days before release. In true, prolific Tiger’s style,
another album is already underway to be released later in the year.
Expect to see a clip close to it’s release featuring a re-cut of Chris
Cobilis’s haunting 16mm short film “THE THICKET”.
--------
It is common knowledge that film is meant to be handled with clean, dry
hands. This was unavoidable as the latest installments to the Super 8
diaries was laced into the projector by 10 sweaty, nervous digits.
Having shot MUKAIZAKE’S last ever gig in Perth using untested cameras
and the TUCKER B’S in a hazardous low light environment, there was a
large sigh of relief as the footage lit up the screen in all its black
and white beauty. NB: If anyone out there knows the whereabouts of the
mini disc audio recorded from the tuckers show please contact us…

Well
we have just put the finishing touches on the new music vid for Sydney
band (ex-Perth) 'tucker Bs'..the song is called 'The Legs' It was shot
over 2 sweaty days and nights late in 2004. The shoot involved an
unlicensed car, endoscopic cameras and one senile non-english speaking
grandma. The clip will be included on their new album to be released in
March/April
--------
We
are also in the middle of editing for Perth electronica/rock band
'Plastikscene', the song is called 'Kestral' and was shot in Perth and
on the great ocean road.
--------
We
are currently in pre-production on a new 16mm clip for Sydney band
Purplene for the track 'love western'. The track is off the 2004
self-titled album, engineered by none other than Steve Albini (shellac,
Nirvana's 'In Utero'). We are very excited about working with these
guys again and shooting our first 16mm clip.
--------
Other
projects on the horizon include a clip for Melbourne post-rockers
International Karate. As well as a couple of others that won't be
speculated on just yet.
--------
The Super 8 diaries are still in progress...bands so far captured to celluloid include:
- My Disco!
- Love Of Diagrams
- Colditz Glider
- Mukaizake
- Tucker B's
--------
We have completed an absolutely PISS funny interview with the tuckers as well.
--------

a Super 8 diaries teaser are now available on request.
